How We Research
Every guide on SeriouslySnug starts with one question: will this product work for the person who is shopping for it? For our mini fridge guides, that means your room, your space and what you plan to keep cold.
Here is how we answer it.
1. We start with the room and the space
A fridge for a quiet bedroom or office is a different pick from one for a garage or a basement bar. The room can change the size, the noise level and the features that matter most.
We check the outside dimensions and the cubic feet the maker lists. When your space limits the choice, like a tight cabinet or a spot under a desk, we say what to measure first.
2. We compare specs and features
We look at cubic feet, freezer type (none, a small freezer compartment or a separate freezer door), shelves, door storage and whether the door can swap sides. Some makers also list a noise level, a wattage or an Energy Star label, so we note them when they're there.
We also note the warranty terms the maker lists. When a detail comes from the maker, we say so.
3. We look at buyer feedback
We read through what buyers report after using a fridge. We look for patterns, like weak cooling, loud compressors, leaks, frost build-up or dents on arrival.
One angry review doesn't sink a product. A pattern does.
4. We score each product
Our score weighs specs, features and buyer feedback against what you're shopping for. A fridge that's great for one room may score lower in a guide written for another.
Scores spread out on purpose. A 10 is rare.
5. We keep pages up to date
Products change, and some disappear from stores. Frigidaire, Midea, Igloo and BLACK+DECKER each sell several fridges with similar names, so we check each model name and code before we write about it.
When we update a guide, the "Updated on" date at the top changes with it.
What our picks are not
Our picks are research, not lab tests. We don't claim to have used every fridge we cover.
Our guides don't replace the maker's manual. For the room temperature range, power, placement and defrost steps, follow the maker's directions.
We don't promise that any fridge will work in a very hot or freezing space, and we make no promises about food or drink safety. When a maker makes one of these claims, we label it as the maker's claim.
